Father, it seems so dark right now.
Fears loom big and ominous around us.
We don’t know the way ahead,
But still torture our brains with obsessing on it.
Sometimes it’s hard to hear you, God,
When so much is loud and crazy.
Or when the silence of the lack of movement
Seems to drown out everything else.
Thank you that You haven’t changed at all,
That this circumstance doesn’t shock you.
I know Your hand is in this place,
And You are shepherding me always.
I’m so glad you aren’t worried about my weakness,
As it seems to be the only thing I have.
But I am grateful for that weakness
As it proves your strength over and over.
So, in this time when all seems lost,
When the waves are crashing in,
Thank you that you hold my hand,
And carry me through my fear.
Suffering doesn’t get to define me
Or take over my life and drown me.
You alone are my light and life,
And hold my head up high.
I don’t walk forward alone—
For you never forsake me here.
I get to ask you every moment of every day
To be all You say You are in me.
Thanks that I don’t have to figure it out,
Or explain away the pain.
I can be sad or scared or angry,
But keep coming back to your faithfulness.
I ask for your love and your strength
To flood my being right now,
As you make it available always
So I’m not limited to my own.
Thank you that no matter the hardship,
You are the Way, Truth and Life,
And I get to trust you to shepherd me,
While resting in your everlasting arms.
The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where he restores and revives my life. He opens before me pathways to God’s pleasure and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to his name. Lord, even when your path takes me through
the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near. You become my delicious feast
even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my heart overflows. So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through, I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you! Psalm 23
